What happens next?
You will receive an email notification of your permission to register and instructions on how to request your visa.
You will then contact the Northwestern University International Office to apply for a Form I-20 or Form DS-2019 (for an F-1 or J-1 visa respectively) and submit all financial documents specified in the I-20/DS 2019 Request Form; failure to submit proper documentation delays the visa process. These forms are available on the International Office page. Follow the link to "New Students/Student Visa Information" to access the form.
After your registration form and payment are processed (which may take up to 5 business days), you will receive a paper confirmation. If the courses you have chosen are closed, you will be notified by phone and may choose an alternate course. Please make sure the contact information on your registration form is accurate.
The Office of Student Finance will issue a bill for the balance due. The Office of Student Finance does not accept VISA as a form of payment, and students will be charged a 2.75% processing fee for all credit card payments on the balance. If you have questions regarding billing and payments on your balance, please contact:
Office of Student Finance
555 Clark Street
Evanston, Illinois
60208
847-491-5224.
You are responsible for fulfilling your financial obligations to the University. Students whose University accounts are overdue must pay a late payment fee of $100 and may not be given an academic transcript until all financial obligations are paid in full. The Director of Student Finance may cancel or prevent the registration of a student whose bills are past due.
Health Insurance and Requirements
Health Insurance
ALL International Students enrolled in Summer Session must purchase the University sponsored health insurance plan. Please contact the Summer Session office for more information.
Entrance Health Information
Visiting Summer Session students are not required to provide proof of immunization. Nevertheless, Northwestern University strongly recommends that the student’s immunizations are up to date. By doing so, the risk of disease is reduced for all Summer Session students.
Important: Complete all steps found on the New Student Checklist for Visiting Students.
Academic Integrity
Northwestern University students and faculty are committed to scholarly principles that respect and acknowledge individual achievement. As such, certain behaviors are viewed as unacceptable, including cheating, plagiarism, falsifying or fabricating information, and aiding or abetting academic dishonesty. Students who violate these principles are subject to penalties, including course failure and dismissal from the University. More information on academic integrity is available here.
